Vagus Nerve Self Care

The vagus nerve, also known as the vagal nerves, are the main nerves of your parasympathetic nervous system. This system controls involuntary body functions such as your digestion, heart rate and immune system.
 

Relaxing the muscles in the eyes engages an innate reflex called the Oculocardiac reflex which initiates a parasympathetic response to slow down the heart rate and lower blood pressure.

Feeling anxious? Our eye pillows form part of a self-care practice that is intended to help support the nervous system for whole body wellbeing.

Heating and cooling

Heating and Cooling Instructions

Warmed or chilled, our eye pillows are extra special when you prep them, and it couldn't be easier.

To heat:

1. Place the inner eye pillow in the microwave for no longer than 60 seconds.

2. Test the temperature before use. 

 

To cool: 

1. Place the eye pillow inside a recycled plastic bag and leave it in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
